Urban sights in clay

An art project by the Mitte Museum on the history of Berlin

  • In an investigative manner, we cover interesting and intriguing subjects of city history, which can be coordinated with the teachers in accordance with the respective curriculum of the class.
  • In the initial phase, students will receive clear and descriptive information from our exhibitions, the library or the archive of the Mitte Museum and will collect historic pictures related to their subject.
  • In a second stage, the students will render the images they researched into clay reliefs, which are subsequently coloured. After baking, the ceramic works can be used in various ways, such as for decoration of the school building.

The workshop is free; only the cost of materials must be subsidised.
