The students in school form 5a of the Lessing-Gymnasium visited the exhibition DESSA: The Nathan Israel department store 1815 - 1939. An artist researches history. The students were exclusively guided through the exhibition by the Swiss artist DESSA and had the opportunity to speak with the artist about her art.
The children thereafter participated in a collage workshop in the Mitte Museum. They drew, painted, cut, combined and glued – and the results were very personal collages on the subject of My Berlin! What is particularly interesting in the picture stories is the fact that the children portray historical Berlin as well as their own Berlin images. Thus the students generate their own very original views of their city.
The colourful, large-sized collages are now on display in the Lessing-Gymnasium.
