Everyday life - Life, home and leisure

Blick in die Dauerausstellung, Raum - AlltagA room display with original objects demonstrating a typical living and working environment, the beautiful counter of a beer bar and murals together with a picture series by Uta Gerlach on the everyday life of a working class woman in Berlin around 1910 give visitors an idea of the living conditions of adults and children at that time. Historic photos taking the visitor on a stroll along Pankstrasse complete the picture.
In the 19th century, a number of reform movements addressed the housing shortage and the excesses of the extremely fast urbanisation. Selected examples of interesting settlement and housing reform projects from the district round off this exhibition sector. Models and furnishings illustrate the development of the housing reform up to the 1970s.
