Workshop discussion: Museums and historical awareness

on the occasion of the finissage of the exhibition "This is ar! Military mail, photos and memories from 1914 to 1918 from the Mitte Museum collection"

We invite you to attend!

Tuesday, 8 September 2015, 7 p.m.

For the conclusion of the exhibition "This is war!" the Mitte Museum invites you to a review of our exhibition. Guests include the historians Henning Holsten, curator of the exhibition "1914/18 – Neukölln in World War I" at the Mobiles Museum Neukölln (Neukölln Mobile Museum), and Conrad Mücke from the Museum für Kommunikation (Museum for Communication).

The current perception of World War I and the historic role which museums play in this context on different levels is the topic of discussion with the curator and head of the Mitte Museum collection. Discussions will include the long-term impact of collections in museums as well as the importance of private bequests and the handed-down memories of witnesses from that time. A tour of the exhibition ends the evening and offers the opportunity to deepen individual conversations on the subject.

Moderation: Andreas Wiebel (German philologist)
