Karl-Ludwig Lange. The photographer in his era.
Berlin, years 1973 to 2004

A series of exhibitions by the Kommunale Galerien in Berlin and the Berlin Regionalmuseen as part of the 6th European Month of Photography in Berlin.
Karl-Ludwig Lange created his artistic work on his own behalf over a period of five decades. He shows his works as part of a multi-part exhibition cycle in ten different locations in Berlin independently of any strictly topographic relation. In this way he expresses his individual version of how the city of Berlin developed.
The Mitte Museum in Berlin-Wedding shows photos from Berlin-Köpenick, such as from the district of Oberschöneweide, among others.
The photos from Oberschöneweide in the district of Köpenick are linked to Berlin Wedding by the fact that both communities were important sites for the Berlin electrical industry. Important modern industrial quarters were built for company AEG in both areas.
Prof. Dr. Dorothee Haffner - art historian and professor of Museum Science at the Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft (HTW - University of Applied Sciences for Engineering and Economy) at Campus Wilhelminenhof - is an authority on the history and present of the district of Oberschöneweide, including its success story as a new science site since 2006. Her lecture (with photos) traces the chequered history of the district and its impressive architecture.
