Pastel by Otto Nagel was stolen - 30 years ago. The Mitte Museum asks for your help!
On 12 December 1989, a pastel by Otto Nagel (1894-1967) was stolen from the exhibition at Heimatmuseum Wedding on Pankstrasse 47.
The image entitled "Farmstead on Müllerstrasse (Gehöft an der Müllerstraße)" from 1940 is 40.5 x 57 cm in size. It portrays a rural building situated at Müllerstrasse 54 in Berlin-Wedding at that time. The artist's catalogue raisonné lists the piece under the title "Farmstead in Reinickendorf (Gehöft in Reinickendorf)" (cf. S. Schallenberg-Nagel / G. Schallenberg, Otto Nagel. Gemälde und Pastelle, Berlin 1974, p. 152, no. 389). The Bezirksamt Wedding (district administration office of Wedding) purchased it at the end of the 1970s from the artist’s widow.
The Mitte Museum as the successor to Heimatmuseum Wedding is still searching for it. Please notify the Mitte Museum, Tel. +49 30 91603281 (Ms. Schulze; e-mail) or the Landeskriminalamt (Berlin State Office of Criminal Investigation), arts section, phone +49 30 4664-945408 of any relevant information (including confidential).
